Vladimir Soultanov, France 

A child prodigy from the former Soviet Union, he studied piano from the age of four and gave his first recital at the age of seven. In 1970, he was the subject of a television documentary on gifted children. He gave numerous concerts in the largest concert halls  in the Soviet Union. Considered one of his country's greatest hopes, he entered  the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he studied under Lev Naumov and won 1st prize. In 1984, he was awarded the diploma of concert pianist with and was appointed principal soloist of the Tashkent Philharmonic.
His stance against the Soviet regime was frowned upon by the political authorities, who banned him from performing abroad and from taking part in international international competitions.

In 1988, Vladimir Soultanov settled in France. Since then, he has an international career that has taken him all over the world:
Moscow, Minsk, Riga, Tashkent, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria and France. He regularly records CDs with works by : Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann, Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev...
He teaches piano at the Conservatoires à rayonnement départemental in Arras and Roubaix (Nord).
Since 2018, Vladimir Soultanov has been artistic director and jury president of the
Les Étoiles du piano competition, which takes place in Roubaix every two years.
