Myrthala Salazar, Mexico

Myrthala Salazar was born in Monterrey, Mexico. She began her piano studies at the age of five. At nine years old she became a student of Mtro. Don Antonio Ortiz, a very distinguished musician, later she received her Bachelor,s degree at the UANL.

She continued her postgraduate studies at the Ecole Normal Superieur de Paris under the guidance of France Clidat and in London with Louis Kentner. She also had the guidance of Georgy Sandor and of Rosa Sabater in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Salazar has performed in many countries, all throughout Mexico, USA, Europe, South and Central America and in the Caribbean.  She has been awarded Prizes such as The Aguila of Tlatelolco, a medal and diploma for artistic excellence from the Conjunto Cultural Ollin Yolliztli and prizes from the Universidad Regiomontana, Amigos del Obispado, as well as the Merit Civic Award of her Home State, Nuevo Leon.

She keeps very busy as a juror in many International  Piano Competitions such as , the Neue Stern in Germany, the Seregno, the Valsesia, Citta di Cantu and the Scriabin in Italy, the Chatou and the Merignac in France, The Compositores de Espana, La Princesa Lalla Merian en Morocco, The Baltic in Poland, the Isador Bajic in Serbia, Top of the World in Norway, The Takamatsu in Japakn, The Cesar Frank in Brussels and the Festival Of Shanghai in China. She has given Masterclasses in Italy, USA, Spain, China, South America and in the Schnittke Institute in Moscow.

Salazar is the founder of the international acclaimed Musical Association PARNASSOS, the Parnassos International Piano Competition, the National Piano Competition for Young Pianists, New Talents in Concert and the form  Concertheater.
